Okay last extension, all entries are due May 24th and all registrations are closed

REGISTRATION DATE CHANGED: to March 24th
1/30 There will be no designed cross country jumps, you can make your own. See Cross Country section for details.
1/12 extended the date to March 31st registration date remains at March 2nd, affiliates have a 3 day extension, and Halter entrants DO NOT need a training/show entry prior to this.
12/17
Fixed some typos There is no maximum age limit for Westhill downs, maybe your racehorse is supernatural and can still race at 300 years old :giggle:
12/11
Updated rules, changed the point system so you can get more points through effort, added prizes, a map of CSS, SJ jumps and racing details.

Welcome to

Colliding Stars Stable's Winter Event!

About the event

CSS welcomes all to come on out to Colorado for their first major event! The 'days' for when the event takes place are from January 11th to the 19th, but that isn't when it starts and ends. You have until today, December 10th to April 21st to get your entries in. The event will have flat racing, show jumping, cross country, dressage, flat racing, a three day event class and a halter class. There will be snow, lots of it. Just how I like it.

Judging

You will be scored out of 120 points, but it is possible to get more through extra pictures.

:bulletblue: Most of your points will go to your effort you put into the picture. I will look at the composition, anatomy, how much work you put into it, shading etc. I will it compare it to the rest of your work. does it show the same amount of effort or are you lacking? If I see you put a lot of effort into your work I will take notice. The most you can get is 60.

:bulletblue: You can get a maximum of 25 points for paying attention to the things going on in the event, such as weather, time of day, tack, obstacles and background.

:bulletblue: A maximum of 25 points goes toward the events you have entered in the past and past training pictures. The past event and training pictures must be in the discipline you have entered. The first 3 events are worth 3 points each, +2 if placed first +1 if placed second or third. The rest are worth 1 point each no matter the placement. For training pictures the first four are worth 2 points, the rest are worth one point. To keep it fair the highest you can get is 25.
IMPORTANT* If it's the first time you enter this horse in this discipline and you have no prior training picture, the one you make to enter this event will count as 3 points.

:bulletblue: Random generator. A random number with be chosen between 1 and 10.

:bulletred: Extra points! These things are not required but will boost your score. I will give extra points for training pictures for this event, stories, inspection picture, and if you promote this event.
- Training pictures for this event count as 3 points each for the first two, and one point for the rest. the most you can get is ten extra points. You should have them colored and showing at least half the horse.
- I loveeeee stories! I will give a maximum of 8 points for a written story in the artists comments.
- Inspection pictures will give a maximum of 8 points, and the least you can get is five. Inspection images don't have to have a background or shading, but they should be colored and have at least half the horse. You have a better chance of getting the full 8 points if you put some amount of work in it.
- Spread the word! I will give a point to anyone who promotes my show, it's as easy as posting a link in a journal or poll, say something like "hey join this show' if you want.
- Any extra pictures that involve the show with get anywhere between 3 and 5 points. Get creative! Show your characters having dinner, chatting with other riders, and maybe there is some drama going on. Have fun with it! You are also welcome to draw or mention any of my characters,

Rules

:bulletblack: All breeds are welcome, but if they have some sort of power, ex. wings, magic, etc.,  they can't use it to help them win. So wings will have to be bound and powers must be controlled, how you do that is totally up to you. If your in a halter class and your horse has wings they do not need to be bound.
:bulletblack: HARPG and non-HARPG stables are welcome.
:bulletblack: Horses must be at least 5 years old to participate, (3 for racers) and riders must be at least 18 (for Halter handlers must be at least 16 and horses must be at least 4)
:bulletblack: If you trace I will take serious points of your score. You will receive a maximum of 15 points out of 60 for effort.
:bulletblack: Drawn backgrounds will receive more points, but if you want to use a photo because you ran out of time, or for whatever reason make sure it is altered in someway.
:bulletblack: The Background must match was CSS looks like and the weather attributed to that day. EX say during the event it's raining and cold out, and you draw your picture with a sunny background and your rider is wearing a short sleeved shirt then something is wrong there, and points will be taken off.
:bulletblack: I would like to see the reference picture you used, if you used one, so put it in the artists comments.
:bulletblack: You will get a number for each class, the number must be present in the image and in the artists comments.
:bulletblack: Registration is required, you can register up until March 2nd.
:bulletblack: Your entry MUST be submitted to me by March 31st 11:59 PM eastern standard time, registrations must be submitted by March 2nd 11:59 PM eastern standard time. If you need a extension please note me about it in ample time and I will see what I can do. Affiliates you have a 3 day extension for registration and entry due date. You can not request to become an affiliate just so you have more time ;P

The Three Day Event

For those wanting to participate in all three classes with the same horse will be put into the three day event class. You must participate in all three events: Dressage, Show Jumping, and Cross Country. You will compete along side the others who are competing as a singular class, and I will take note that you are in 3DE and so I won't score you with the others. You may do three separate pictures or compile them into a single image, it is your artistic choice. Please read all the information for Dressage, Show Jumping, and Cross Country.
*Note: If there are no more then three entrants I will cancel this event, and I will score you separately in each class.  Your horse must be trained in each discipline, so it must have a training picture for each one, whether it's a past one or one for this event, or it has to have had competed in them before.

Racing

Westhill Downs: Dirt track, 7 furlongs. Open to all breeds and genders. A previous race isn't required, but you must have at least one training image in racing. Horses must be at least 3, riders must be at least 18. Please check the schedule for weather. I will give you a color for your saddle pad and a number, jockeys may wear whatever silks they choose.

Semper Fi Stakes Dirt track, 8 furlongs. Open Thoroughbreds and half-Thoroughbreds only, open to both mares and stallions. A previous race isn't required but you must have at least one training picture in racing.  The horse must be at least 3 and no older then 10, and riders must be at least 18. Please check the schedule for weather. I will give you a color for your saddle pad and a number, jockeys may wear whatever silks they choose.

Dressage Under the Stars

Dressage will be held in the outdoor arena (D) at night, under the starts (obviously). The arena will be clear of snow and filled with loose sand. A low, white,  one foot rail surrounds the arena along with seating as every side. Flood lights will be on so we can see your horse, and horses are required to have bandages around there legs, either white or glow in the dark colors (just for fun!). Rider must wear proper dressage attire: black/blue/red jacket, white/tan pants, black riding boots. Helmets or hats or not required, but are permitted. Horses must be at least 5 years old, riders must be 18, all genders and breeds accepted. Since it will be cold, warm food and beverages will be provided, as well as blankets. Please check the schedule for weather. Your horse must be trained in this discipline, if it hasn't competed in it it must have a training picture for this discipline, whether it's a past one or one for this event.

Indoor Show Jumping

Show Jumping with take place in the indoor arena (C), on the map is it the one closer to the house, the other one will be open for training and warmups. The outside of the building is brick while the inside has dark wooden features. The wood goes halfway up the wall, and the other half is painted an off-white. The ceiling is very high and there are windows near the top of the ceiling. The arena is sand, light in color. There are a series of 8 jumps (which are posted at the bottom of the journal) and range from 2'6" to 5'. Rider must wear proper attire: black/blue/red jacket, white/tan pants, black riding boots. Helmets are required, you will lose points if you don't wear one. Horses must wear proper jumping tack and must be at least 5 years old, riders must be 18, all genders and breeds accepted. Please check the schedule for weather. Your horse must be trained in this discipline, if it hasn't competed in it it must have a training picture for this discipline, whether it's a past one or one for this event.

Cross Country

This will be a real challenge! The course itself is at a moderate level, but the harsh cold makes it harder. CSS will bring out their cross country stars for an opening act: CSS Warren ridden by Angela del Mare, CSS Bellezza Mortale ridden by Ben Esposito, and CSS Heartless Soldier ridden by Fred Callaghan for an opening act. The course is located at the eastern end of the grounds next to the lake, it goes in a figure 8. You will start at the entrance of the woods, and make your way over 10 obstacles, including Stardust Creek. Since the water will be freezing cold we highly suggest you jump over it, or most of it where your horse doesn't go too deep (at the moment the water is 3 and a half feet in the center and it is 9 feet wide). If your horse won't make the jump he must use a foot bridge down the creek. The path will be cleared and salted to prevent any snow and ice related fall, you will see a dirt path with snow on the sides. We caution riders to watch for ice and snow anyway because of the high winds which may blow snow onto the path. Obstacles range from 2'6" to 4'6" and the course is roughly 2 1/4 miles long. All obstacles you may design yourself as long as they are composed of natural things like bushes, logs, and wooden fences. Warm food and beverages will be available in heated tents, and so onlookers don't miss the action we put up cameras and wired them to TV's in the tents. Riders are required to wear WARM clothing that is comfortable and helmets. Horses must wear appropriate tack. Riders must be at least 18 and horses must be at least 5, both genders accepted. Please check the schedule for weather. Your horse must be trained in this discipline, if it hasn't competed in it it must have a training picture for it, whether it's a past one or one for this event.

Halter

Takes place in the same arena as Show Jumping, All horse breeds and genders may enter, handlers must be at least 16 and horses must be at least four.  The outside of the building is brick while the inside has dark wooden features. The wood goes halfway up the wall, and the other half is painted an off-white. The ceiling is very high and there are windows near the top of the ceiling. The arena is sand, light in color. You may either show your horse standing, walking, or trotting. Manes should be braided (long or short) and tail braiding is optional. Handlers must wear appropriate clothing and horses may be shown in bridles or halters. You don't have to be trained nor do you need a previous show entry.

I know it's beyond ridiculous that I don't have all my entries done yet but I may have to drop out of Cross Country, Halter and 3 Day Eventing. I've got my three others done I just have to post and write stories in the morning; when I applied for my new job I had no idea I'd start this fast with these kinds of hours. Sorry for the trouble...

I have two horses entered in one race, can I draw them racing against each other (1 image)?
Reply
:iconcollidingstarsstable:
Yes as long as it's shows both of the horses, like you can't have the first horse full bodied and then just the head of your second horse :P
This is a good example: [link]
